Lucky Honu is part of my Hawaiian Petroglyphs series. I create each painting by texturing the canvas with tissue paper. Then I dry brush on layers of earth tone colors. This painting I added gold and copper paint to give it an added richness. I then came up with the design on the right and added the turtle.

Darice Machel McGuire lived on the beautiful Island of Maui from 2012 until the Lahaina fire on August 8th, 2023, destroyed her art studio. She and her husband have relocated to Grass Valley, California. They purchased a commercial building to reestablish their art studios. McGuire's Hawaii and California landscape oil and acrylic paintings are gracing the homes and offices of collectors nationally and internationally. McGuire's choice of subject matter comes from her love of nature and all that surrounds her on a daily basis. She paints in large and small formats.
