Artist's Description
This is one of my class demonstration paintings. The technique I used in this painting was done by layering tissue paper onto the canvas with a base color of purple acrylic acting as my glue. This creates a wonderful texture. After this layer dries I start to build colors on top of the base using unbleached titanium white, yellow ocher, and metallic gold and copper. I paint the subject on top of this abstract background.

About Darice Machel McGuire
Darice Machel McGuire lived on the beautiful Island of Maui from 2012 until the Lahaina fire on August 8th, 2023, destroyed her art studio. She and her husband have relocated to Grass Valley, California. They purchased a commercial building to reestablish their art studios. McGuire's Hawaii and California landscape oil and acrylic paintings are gracing the homes and offices of collectors nationally and internationally. McGuire's choice of subject matter comes from her love of nature and all that surrounds her on a daily basis. She paints in large and small formats.
