Artist's Description
Double Honu is part of my new series of Hawaiian Petroglyph paintings. I star each painting the same way, by texturing the canvas with tissue paper. I then layer on colors of burnt sienna, red iron oxide, green, yellow ocher and unbleached titanium white. The honu (sea turtles) Petroglyphs are painted with burnt umber. The triangles are based off of Hawaiian tattoo designs.
